Philips Internship: Analytical Department in Drachten, Netherlands

Job title: Internship: Analytical Department

Your role:

Your assignment is to establish measurement protocols to detect the chemicals listed in Chemicals List for Analytical Performance (CLAP) in U.S. Food & DRAG administration (FDA) by mainly using Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS). More specifically you will categorize the chemicals in several functional groups (alcohol, aldehyde, amine etc.), choose a suitable column for detecting those group of chemicals and establish the calibration curve to define the measurement range for each chemical.

The Philips Technical Expert Group (TEG) in Drachten, The Netherlands, is a group of highly skilled experts in several competences that are key for the Personal Health Business groups as well as for Medical Businesses. TEG supports the different Philips product categories worldwide in scouting and developing new technologies that enable new product functions and is organized around competences, with two expert groups. One of these expert groups is the group Chemistry & Polymers. The competences in the group are Applied Chemistry, Material/Chemical Analysis and Materials, Molding & Finishing Technologies.

You're the right fit if:

  • Currently studying towards your Bachelor or Master degree within Analytical Chemistry

  • Hands-on experience with a broad range of characterization/analytical techniques, most importantly experience with GC-MS

  • Team player, Good communication and reporting skills in the English language, Good planning skills and ability to work independently.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.

Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
